April 2013 Florida Saltwater Backcountry DaytonaBch Orlando NewSmyrna

After a very mild mid winter, March arrived with chilly winter conditions in east central Florida, dropping water temps back into the upper 50’s for much of the month. Spring time is great for backcountry mixed bag fishing, returning from south Florida are the schools of inshore migrating gamefish eager to feed as they make their way north on an annual trip from winter haunts, following the rising water temperature change and ending up by summer as far north as the Outer Banks NC area. Joining our resident backcountry Spotted Seatrout, Redfish, Sheepshead, and Black Drum will be larger numbers of Jack Crevalle, Bluefish, and Ladyfish making for lots of fun rod bending.

Fish and weed!

With a crew of 'Non Anglers' today it was never going to be easy......When you get plenty of weed and plenty of fish it becomes a tad busy!
The boys we had today (6 of them) apart from one, had never picked a rod up in there lives! They learned quickly though :)
First thing was to get a few Mackerel which we managed but also a few Bass amongst them on the feathers.Only chuck back size but it was nice to see them.
Just a short run from there to put the hook down in 25ft to try to stay out of the tide.It was pretty dire for the first hour or so but then livened up a tad! lol The weed was awful but the fish were amongst it.
2-3-4 fish on at the same time! We had some nice Hounds to 14lb and a some nice Rokers (Is there such

Well guys, that was bit lively lol
You all fished well and considering how many fish escaped I think we ended up with a reasonable Tally for only 3 fishing.I was going to have a go but I was a bit busy with the net! (Wheres me crew,I need to know where the sugar is kept!!!!) It was enjoyable day all round, even the weather played ball apart from a couple of showers.
Thanks for coming and I hope you all enjoyed your day.
